The theme I am willing to use needs to assign a custom field to each post, can this be done and added to the post template?

Also i looked around alil bit, i think you need allow_url_fopen to be enabled for it to work, which is not enabled on my host and also my host doesnt accept customized php,ini files.

Can you use curl instead?

Yes, mvb creates custom fields for thumbnails and embed codes.

if the allow_url_fopen is disabled, mvb will use cURL.
